Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts the job offer of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, husband of bestselling author Verity Crawford, has hired Lowen to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish. Lowen arrives at the Crawford home, ready to sort through years of Verity's notes and outlines, hoping to find enough material to get her started. What Lowen doesn't expect to uncover in the chaotic office is an unfinished autobiography Verity never intended for anyone to read. Page after page of bone-chilling admissions, including Verity's recollection of what really happened the day her daughter died. Lowen decides to keep the manuscript hidden from Jeremy, knowing its contents would devastate the already grieving father. But as Lowen's feelings for Jeremy begin to intensify, she recognizes all the ways she could benefit if he were to read his wife's words. After all, no matter how devoted Jeremy is to his injured wife, a truth this horrifying would make it impossible for him to continue to love her.

Born A Prince, Lived A Slave BY: JAME...

”Born a Prince Lived a Slave” is a perfect script that narrates the walk of many believers who live outside their God given purpose. The book advocates nine undisputed laws that have been tested and approved. The scriptural references are an indication of divine principles that works whether in secular or Kingdom Circles. The Law of opportunity, and how many people turn a blind eye to those opportunities, has been discussed very plainly. This causes them to remain slaves for the rest of their lives. In relation to the same law, many who maintain a single eye, see and seize those opportunities become the shakers and movers who remain relevant not only on their generation but even in generations to come. James Kweri brings out the aspect of walking in self-identity, finding out your divine abilities, capitalizing and ensuring total application on them and therefore, becoming all that you were created to become~ A Prince. This book dispels the notion that some people are on earth to escort others or worse still, to cause congestion, and brings out very clearly, how one can rise above any limitation, get out from eating crumbs from under the table of the seemingly high and the mighty and join the meal on the high table and dine with kings. This book has therefore been unreservedly endorsed to anyone who cares to find themselves, their potential, gifting and talents, anyone who’s tired of living a mediocre life, anyone who feel they deserve better and descent fulfilling lives to read, take note and make notes- apply the laws and the results will be guaranteed

The Exponential Age: How Accelerating...

KShs2,500.00 KShs1,890.00
A bold exploration and call-to-arms over the widening gap between AI, automation, and big data—and our ability to deal with its effects. We are living in the first exponential age. High-tech innovations are created at dazzling speeds; technological forces we barely understand remake our homes and workplaces; centuries-old tenets of politics and economics are upturned by new technologies. It all points to a world that is getting faster at a dizzying pace. Azeem Azhar, renowned technology analyst and host of the Exponential View podcast, offers a revelatory new model for understanding how technology is evolving so fast, and why it fundamentally alters the world. He roots his analysis in the idea of an “exponential gap” in which technological developments rapidly outpace our society’s ability to catch up. Azhar shows that this divide explains many problems of our time—from political polarization to ballooning inequality to unchecked corporate power. With stunning clarity of vision, he delves into how the exponential gap is a near-inevitable consequence of the rise of AI, automation, and other exponential technologies, like renewable energy, 3D printing, and synthetic biology, which loom over the horizon. And he offers a set of policy solutions that can prevent the growing exponential gap from fragmenting, weakening, or even destroying our societies. The result is a wholly new way to think about technology, one that will transform our understanding of the economy, politics, and the future.

He is described as a Mau Mau oath-taker, seemingly of two minds - both for and against, loyal and disloyal. In A Daunting Journey, Jeremiah Gitau Kiereini, lets us into his life spanning three generations. He reveals insights into the influences and intrigues surrounding the early civil service and the powerful individuals who held Kenya's future in their hands. Kiereini also exposes the dichotomy that irreconcilably split the communities involved in the struggle for independence and the personal contradictions and challenges he encountered as he sought to find pride and loyalty in service to a newly independent Kenya. This is truly a fascinating chronicle that takes us from the humble and difficult years of childhood, through the Mau Mau years, the Kenyatta administration, the Moi regime, and on to the present in the life of Jeremiah Kiereini. Most captivating is the narrative on the infamous 1969 oath-taking commonly referred to as, 'Caai wa Gatundu' and the 1982 coup.

She narrowly survives the horrific attack and escapes back to the lake. Seeing her injured and bleeding, her vengeful lake mother retaliates with devastating consequences. After the carnage, the villagers assemble fearsome warriors, experienced fishermen and skilled hunters from far and wide to kill the creature. What follows is a series of spell binding events and revelations that lead to the most unexpected finale. Believer: My Forty Years in Politics ...

KShs2,900.00 KShs2,490.00
David Axelrod has always been a believer. Whether as a young journalist investigating city corruption, a campaign consultant guiding underdog candidates against entrenched orthodoxy, or as senior adviser to the president during one of the worst crises in American history, Axelrod held fast to his faith in the power of stories to unite diverse communities and ignite transformative political change. Now this legendary strategist, the mastermind behind Barack Obama’s historic election campaigns, shares a wealth of stories from his forty-year journey through the inner workings of American democracy. Believer is the tale of a political life well lived, of a man who never gave up on the deepest promises our country has to offer. Believer reveals the roots of Axelrod’s devotion to politics and his faith in democratic change. As a child of the ’60s in New York City, Axelrod worked his first campaigns during a tumultuous decade that began with soaring optimism and ended in violence and chaos. As a young newspaperman in Chicago during the 1970s and ’80s, Axelrod witnessed another world transformed when he reported on the dissolution of the last of the big city political machines—Richard Daley, Dan Rostenkowski, and Harold Washington—along with the emergence of a dynamic black independent movement that ultimately made Obama’s ascent possible. After cutting his teeth in the rollicking world of Chicago journalism, Axelrod switched careers to become a political strategist. His unorthodox tactics during his first campaign helped him get Paul Simon unexpectedly elected to the Senate, and soon Axelrod’s counsel was sought by the greatest lights of the Democratic Party. Working for path breakers like Hillary Clinton, Deval Patrick, and Rahm Emanuel—and morally conflicted characters like Rod Blagojevich and John Edwards—Axelrod, for better and worse, redefined the techniques by which modern political campaigns are run. The heart of Believer is Axelrod’s twenty-year friendship with Barack Obama, a warm partnership that inspired both men even as it propelled each to great heights. Taking a chance on an unlikely candidate for the U.S. Senate, Axelrod ultimately collaborated closely with Obama on his political campaigns, and served as the invaluable strategist who contributed to the tremendous victories of 2008 and 2012. Switching careers again, Axelrod served as senior adviser to the president during one of the most challenging periods in national history: working at Obama’s side as he battled an economic disaster; navigated America through two wars; and fought to reform health care, the financial sector, and our gridlocked political institutions. In Believer, Axelrod offers a deeper and richer profile of this extraordinary figure—who in just four years vaulted from the Illinois State Senate to the Oval Office—from the perspective of one who was at his side every step of the way. Spanning forty years that include corruption and transformation, turmoil and progress, Believer takes readers behind the closed doors of politics even as it offers a thrilling call to democratic action. Axelrod’s Believer is a powerful and inspiring memoir enlivened by the charm and candor of one of the greatest political strategists in recent American history.

Carcase for Hounds by Meja Mwangi

KShs900.00 KShs790.00
Meja Mwangi second Mau Mau novel tells the story of an Anvil. The group is under the command of a general called Haraka (Hurry) and the plot revolves around the fight between Haruka's men and British troops led by a Captain Kingsley. 18 The fictional protagonists, Haraka and Kingsley, know each other as Haraka was once chief of a village under Kingsley's jurisdiction. The Captain is under pressure from his superiors, who demand immediate results in the attempts to crush the resistance met with from Haraka and his men. The narrative displays an obvious ambivalence in characterisation, theme and language. The narrator portrays the protagonists as partly human and considerate, partly brutal and repressive, but with a difference. Haraka is endowed with the most negative personal traits. He kills three of his own men. Towards the end of 1954, as a result of the so-called villagization programme, about one million Gikuyu were resettled in 800 new villages surrounded by barbed wire and watch towers. This is an indication of the difficulties Mau Mau had to face to get support and supplies.

We live in the age of big companies where rising levels of power are concentrated in the hands of a few. Yet no government or organisation has the power to regulate these titans and hold them to account. We need big companies to share their power and we, the people of the world, need to reclaim it. In Competition is Killing Us, top business and competition lawyer Michelle Meagher establishes a new framework to control capitalism from the inside in order to make it work for the many and not just the few. Meagher has spent years campaigning against these multi-billion and trillion-dollar mammoths that dominate the market and prioritise shareholder profits over all else; leading to extreme wealth inequality, inhumane conditions for workers and relentless pressure on the environment. In this revolutionary book, she introduces her wholly-achievable alternative; a fair and comprehensive competition law that limits unfair mergers, enforces accountability and redistributes power through stakeholder governance.
