Big businesses are strategically created and engineered to attract huge amounts of money. In exchange for this money, they produce meaningful and wonderful services or products on a consistent basis that are commensurate to the large sums of money they attract. For far too long, African businesses have believed in the lie that it is ok to build small business that can only attract money that satisfies the basic and subsistence needs of the business owner. Whilst this is not entirely wrong in and of itself, the only problem is that small businesses never achieve their fullest potential, and they never attract money in abundance. The result is that they lack the kind of capital that is required to produce high quality products or services. It is time for Africans to rise up and change their thinking into believing that they too have the God-given ability to engineer big businesses. We must start to build a generation of entrepreneurs from a young age, one that sees risk as an opportunity and not something to be avoided. They must know and understand that to succeed, failure is inevitable - it is impossible to live life without failing at something. This generation must be convinced that failing to try out something new is failure by default. We must intentionally build a generation that understands that to succeed in building big business, one must embark on the long journey of self-development and never be satisfied with the status quo. If we are going to build the African continent that will play at a global scale and positively influence the world, then we must have the right people to carry out this assignment.
