The Brilliant First Year is meant for both form four leavers waiting to join university and also first year students in Kenyan universities. The book is based on a firsthand account of the author, as a student himself, and as a university lecturer. It is meant to demystify and eliminate the confusion in the mind of a secondary school leaver and freshman about the academic and social life in universities in Kenya.
This book is NOT about career advice but rather about building excellence among university students regardless of their diverse academic paths.
While not purporting to cover all aspects of student life, the book covers a wide array of topical issues affecting the ordinary first year student in a local university including but not limited to settling in the university as a new student, diligence in studies, campus friendships and relationships, social media use, physical fitness, finances among others.
