Lessons from the Streets ~ The Art of Money
~ Vincent Ogutu
Inside these pages
Lessons From The Streets ~ The Art of Money, the author’s sixth book, is an acknowledgement of our street vendors, their hard work and their resilience. It defines hustles, side hustles and the informal businesses which while thought less of, are actually one of the key drivers of our economy. In his unique captivating style, the author tells the story of our heroes and heroines - the street entrepreneurs, leaving the reader in no doubt that our informal businesses are therefore deserving of greater recognition and appreciation. The book is also a call to all of us to realise the potential that is literally and figuratively on our streets, not only for others, but for anyone who will take these profound lessons and make them work for oneself.

BOOK REVIEW: ESCAPE, EXPERIENCE FREEDOM
Reading “Escape” by Mr. Vincent Ogutu gave me the image and the feel of a “disloyal prison warden” handing the master keys to the heavy iron-based prison gates to the prisoners by night and telling them to unlock themselves, run for their lives and never look back.
The “disloyal prison warden” i.e. Mr. Ogutu, who is fed up with the way those around him are not finding the solutions and fulfillment they so deeply long for, creatively presents you and me with a bunch of keys to life’s prison gates, paints a wonderful picture of the freedoms that life has to offer and the limitless possibilities for our taking if we take full responsibility for our predicament. Indeed, so much is available for each one of us on the other end of fear, self-limiting behaviours and external forces.
A set of different real-life, highly relatable stories from real people who escaped from different life prisons, “Escape” allows the reader to put themselves in these people’s shoes, experience their emotions and difficulties, sense them clutching at straws and finally break through to the freedom of life’s abundance. I enjoyed the simple and well-written stories Mr. Ogutu presented from in-depth research with a wonderful sense of humour.
“Escape” is a thought-provoking and inspiring masterpiece. It offers valuable lessons on resilience, the power of the human spirit, and the various forms of escape that individuals seek. Vincent Ogutu’s work is a testament to the enduring strength of those who face and overcome life’s greatest challenges. I highly recommend the book. No matter the gates and life limitations which are holding you back, there is always a way of escape if you look inside and around you long enough. “Escape” will undeniably ease your process of looking. Book Review By Ekoroi Olagaless
This motivational book has an exercise in ‘what have you learnt’ after each chapter.
Change is painful, but that pain is the fire that ultimately helps us escape our present circumstances, whatever they are, to experience freedom.
What is freedom?
In this book, Vincent Ogutu carefully researched, selected and wrote about the ten common things that hold people back in life.
The chapters are carefully divided to address the above, mostly mental (even sometimes physical) constraints.
In Escape Slavery, the author shares the life of one Frederic Douglass, how he escaped physical slavery and the traits that made him successful in life.
The book’s second chapter is about escaping debt, I think everyone should get this book and read this chapter first, then the others. Debt and money management is the single most enslaving thing in our current world.
There are other chapters such as escaping career stagnation, escaping stress, and escaping stagnation in life.
Face your jailers with knowledge and Experience Freedom. All it takes are Little STEPS big IMPACTS. – Vincent Ogutu, Author and Business Coach.
The overarching message in the above-mentioned four chapters is having the mindset to believe in a better future than present circumstances. The will and action to do different, most often better, is what makes the difference towards freedom.
There are also chapters on escaping toxic relationships, escaping gender stereotypes, escaping poverty, escaping unhealthily competition and escaping politics.
In the last two chapters, titled Opportunities and Escape, the author shares how to spot opportunities and lastly the mental stamina and physical resolve in escaping the past, failure and mediocrity to experience true freedom in one’s life.
It is imperative that in escaping a mediocre and average life, one first knows, acknowledges and rejects their present circumstances, secondly, one has to have a mental picture of their desired destination.
This is a great self-help book that should not be hurriedly read. Get the lessons, write them down, digest them by doing the exercises at the end of each chapter – Ekoroi
Ogutu puts that across very well for the reader.
However, as has been shown in the book, without action, nothing can be achieved.
The nuggets for success that are shared about the examples of people that have worked hard and escaped their previous bad circumstances are enough to motivate one to start now.
