Our beloved Africa is in pain, and she is calling to you. Can you hear her?
Kasumwe has a troubling question about the past that impacts her present and her future. Before the Scramble for Africa, the indigenous people were spiritual, wise and culturally rich, but then the Great Disruption occurred. Kasumwe seeks answers to help her decolonise the African mind and move it from a psyche of poverty to a heart of wealth in order to resolve the disconnect, but first, she must seek her truth.
Tinam is a young woman who is desperately trying to find her place in life. She is adrift with no means of finding her way back as she rebuffs her mother’s spiritualism. Having lived a life where she felt ostracised because of the way she was brought up, Tinam keeps her cards very close to her chest in order to survive the modern world. A dark secret from her past has also created an unwitting familial divide between the two women, and it just adds to the pain coursing through the ancestral line.
Now is the time to wake up and heal. Now is the time for the indigenous voice to be heard. Now is the time to forgive. Sasa. So sing your song, for in the light of a new day, there is new hope and new possibilities for a new story. Find your song deep within you and weave it into the melodious chorus of your people … of Africa.
