Kitaru na Juma ni vijana wawili ambao wanasoma katika Chuo Kikuu cha Dar es Salaam, waniotoka katika familia mbili za kikabaila ambazo zenye historia zilizofanana na zilizotofautiana.Ukabaila wa familia ya Juma ni 'ubwanyenye', na ukabaila wa familia ya Kitaru ni 'unaizi'.Katika mchezo huu ukabaila wa aina ya familia ya Juma umeanza kung'olewa, lakini ukabaila wa aina ya familia ya Kitaru ndiyo kwanza unatiliwa mbolea na uzalendo. Daina ya Kitaru na Juma kuna mapenzi na chuki, shaka na wasiwasi, tuhuma na dhambi, huku wakitafuta uhusiano wa maana katika wakati na hali waliyonayo.
Utashi wa Dola na Hadithi Nyingine
Kila mtu hufanya juhudi ili apate kufaulu maishani. Katika hali hii, ahadi nyingi hutolewa, miadi ikapangwa na mikakati kuwekwa ili kufanikisha maazimio. 'Utashi wa Dola na hadithi nyingine' ni mkusanyo wa hadithi fupi zinazoakisi maisha ya wanadamu: hisia zao, mitazamo yao, ndoto zao, matumaini yao. Ubora wa hadithi katika mkusanyo huu haumo tu katika uanuwai wa fani bali pia kwenye mseto wa ufundi wa wachangiaji ambao wana asili na mitazamo tofauti. Aidha, hadithi hizi zimeteuliwa kwa upekee wa maudhui yanayoangaziwa, kama vile tamaa, nafasi ya mtoto wa kiume, ufisadi, dhuluma na unyanyasaji, ubinafsi, mapenzi, ndoa, usaliti miongoni mwa mengine mengi.

Tunakutana na Ndi- anayejifungia njozini kukimbia ukweli unaompa mateso na kuihangaisha akili yake. Mwishowe anaishiwa na kila kitu ila ishara za mauti. Kwa nini? Kitendawili hiki tunakuachia wewe msomaji ukitegue.

nUlimwengu wa riwaya hii na msuko wake, na umbo lake na muundo wake, kamwe si wa kawaida. Umetengenezwa kumvutia msomaji kwa njia ya ajabu. 'Mabandia' ni tamthilia inayopiga kurunzi ubandia unaojificha na kujifichua kwa sura mbalimbali maishani. Maisha ni kama karata. Wahusika sita wanajitokeza katika maonyesho sita wakifululiza hadi barazani kucheza duru sita za mchezo maarufu wa Wahedi wa Sitini. Mchezo huu huchezwa hasa katika maeneo ya pwani ya Afrika Mashariki.
